Marie Weyr was the daughter of the author Friedrich Uhl and his wife Marie Reischl. Frida Uhl-Strindberg was her younger sister. Marie married the sculptor Dudolf Weyr in 1882.

She wrote stories for the Wienere Zeitung. In 1887 her book "Frühling in Abbazia" was published. She was thge author of the peasant farce "Die hosen-Nandl" that was staged in Schliersee in Bavaria in 1898. In 1899 it was performed with great success at the Deutsches Volkstheater in Vienna.

Her husband created a marble statue of her that was placed near Mondsee. It was destroyed during the Second World War.
