Claus Holm started out as a miner and by 1937 he was a boxer. It was in the mid forties that he became an actor in Berlin. After the war he was responsible for the Kurmärkische Theater in Salzwedel and he made 18 movies for DEFA, among them "Ehe in Schatten" (1947). In 1953 he fled from the DDR to West Berlin, where he was engaged at the Schillertheater and the Schlosspark-Theater. He performed in many more movies and was well known as Commandor Hasso Sigbjörnsen in the television series "Orion" (1966). From the late sixties onwards he could mainly be seen in the theatre, but in 1980 he had a part in Fassbinders "Berlin Alexanderplatz". He was married to the singer Dagmar Holm (1919-1988). |
