In June and July, XS4ALL took first place in the Consumentenbond's Provider Monitor, a monthly test of internet and telephony providers. In both months, XS4ALL scored highest in the 'general satisfaction' and 'internet quality' sections.
We were also awarded the 'CCMA Plume', a prize for organisations which visibly distinguish themselves in the field of service. According to the CCMA, an association for call centre professionals, XS4ALL has shown in recent years that the customer is the focus of attention. Naturally, we are delighted with the award!

Keeping up with developments in their professional field is something that many working people hardly ever have time for. Picking out journals, visiting events and ploughing through books. Thanks to the internet that's no longer necessary. Many conferences put post-event videos online. And speakers put their presentations on the internet using Slideshare. If you follow the authors of professional literature on Twitter they’ll give you free tips about online articles they plan to use as the basis for their new book. Some universities put courses online free of charge. That means you can keep tabs on the leading experts in your professional field. In short, there's an abundance of knowledge. It's a question of filtering out the right information. Nowadays, the real smart guy wants to 'keep free' rather than 'keep up'.
Keeping free of information until you really need it. When a real ‘keep free’ type needs information, he or she will start asking questions, of everyone in his or her circle of acquaintances. Fellow professionals on Linkedin, like-minded people on Twitter or colleagues on the intranet. Where can I find the best receptionist? How do I get my virus filter to work? Which websites cover my professional field? And the answer usually comes back immediately, or emerges after a brief discussion. Keeping free of information and getting bite-size knowledge through your circle of acquaintances is the new way to keep up. Requested knowledge, rather than ready-prepared knowledge. Do it today. Ask your colleagues the first question that springs to mind.
But don’t take too long about it, because if everyone becomes a ‘keep free’ type, there’ll be no-one left keeping up to answer your questions.

It’s not difficult to remove programs in Mac OS X: just drag the program to the trash and it’s gone. It works fine, but there will still be some preference files left behind on the hard disk. Those files will do no harm, but no good either. They’ll just sit there. To clear out these and other files, there’s AppCleaner.
You can open the program and then remove applications or widgets. But that’s a time-consuming process. It’s better to use the SmartDelete option in the preferences:
Every time you throw a program into the trash, AppCleaner will then show which files ‘belong’ to the program and can therefore also be removed.
Another useful feature is that you can protect certain programs so that you don’t remove them accidentally during a frenzied clear-out.

XS4ALL has developed a new webmail environment.
User-friendlier, more attractive design and more features. You can now drag your mails and the menu structure has been simplified. The new webmail also has a spellchecker. The new webmail environment naturally complies with our security and privacy requirements.
We recommend that you use the new webmail environment. It works just like the existing webmail. You log in using the same details and you will find the same mail in your mailbox as in the existing environment. This new environment will eventually be standard for all our customers. You will find the new Secure Webmail at: https://roundcube.xs4all.nl/
XS4ALL is organising a symposium entitled ‘Wat online geldt’ [The law online], jointly with the Brinkhof law firm. Legal questions relating to the internet are not always easy to answer with pre-digital law. Should there be separate rules for the internet? The speakers will be Prof. Dr. Milton Mueller on his work at TU Delft, Prof. Egbert Dommering on online privacy and judge Ary-Jan van der Meer on the practice of internet law. The Internet Dissertation Prize will also be awarded for the best dissertation on the internet and law.
If you would like to attend, send an e-mail to info@internetscriptieprijs.nl. Entry is free. The symposium will take place on 10 September at the Beurs van Berlage in Amsterdam. It will start at 2pm. Further information: http://www.internetscriptieprijs.nl
