25 short films made by secundary school pupils in the stately home at Oud-Amelisweerd wich lies between Utrecht and Bunnik, in 18th-century parkland bordering the Kromme Rijn river. Commissioned by Baron Gerard Godard Taets van Amerongen, the house was built as a country seat in 1770. In 1808 it was sold to Louis Napoleon, King of the Netherlands from 1806 to 1810, who lived there for a total of eight days. Neither were the next owners, Paulus Wilhelmus Bosch van Drakenstein and his successors, regular residents. Thanks to such infrequent occupation, Oud-Amelisweerd has remained largely in its original state. No doubt this house with it’s famous 18th-century Chinese wallpaper, was a big inspiration for the scholars to make very scary, romantic, funny and exciting movies.
